Michael worked for more than twenty years as a freelance Editorial Photographer with newspapers, agencies, cinema, theatre and television.
His photographic career has included documenting the Cornish Tin mining industry during the 1980,s and subsequently the gold and tin mining communities in Bolivia. He traveled widely whilst based in London covering news and socio-economic issues. Clients included Reuters, Associated Press, The Daily Express, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Economist, The European, The Financial Times, The Sunday Mirror and Television South West, Granada Television, Thames Television.
Michael also undertook photographs and documentation for Greenpeace on their campaigns in the Mediterranean, Antarctica, North Africa, and the North and Baltic seas.
In Athens from 1990-2010 Michael worked with publishers, theatre, cinema, and stock agencies and covered Greek news events for Foreign media. A period spent as Production Manager for a company producing three weakly newspapers and also as a consultant to the Lambrakis Group on Digital Imaging for archive and museum collections.
Since 2011 Michael has been living in the Lake District village of Braithwaite, near Keswick, and rendering a darker image of the Cumbrian Fells during the winter and working as the chef/manager of the Tea Rooms at Scotgate Holiday Park during the summer.
